Since 2006, Febby has been trying to qualify for the main round but she was always stopped in qualifying. Her dream came true after she overcame Siahaya Priskila in qualifying final, 21-15, 21-16.
She didn’t waste her first chance as she completed the main round of BIOSSP 2016 with a victory over Yip Pui Yin in a three set match, 18-21, 21-16, 21-19. She however had to end her journey in the second round.
"I finally made it to the main round. I wanted to win but the opponent played better today,” Febby said.
"I was being pressed since the beginning. She controlled the match, I was overwhelmed, said Febby after playing against #13 BWF.
The opponent’s high posture was blamed to be the culprit. She couldn’t control the match since the beginning, she was forced to be dictated.
Although defeated, Febby is happy. Two week preparation for the BIOSSP 2016 has not been in vain. "I am happy to be in the main round. The qualifiers are not as good as those who play in the main round,” she said.
Evaluating her performance, Febby admitted she wanted to improve her speed and her killer instinct because she thinks that most of the Indonesian women’s singles player posses similar playing characteristics.
"I will try again next year, that’s for sure,” said a player who was born in 1991.
