After China’s #4, Tian Qing/Zhao Yunlei, were force to surrender by Rizki Amelia Pradipta/Tiara Rosalia Nuraidah, it was the China’s #6 turn, Jung Kyung Eun/Shin Seung Chan, to quit the tournament after defeated by Anggia Shitta Awanda/Ni Ketut Mahadewi Istirani.
The fierce battle made the crowd at the stadium roar. The 65 minute match ended with Anggia/Ketut’s victory, 21-19, 19-21, dan 21-19.
“Our strategy was the same with the one we had yesterday, we tried to play offensively and safely, minimizing mistakes,” Anggia said after the match.
“We were impatient when we led 20-15. We got carried away with their pattern,” Ketut added.
This is the first time for Anggia/Ketut to play in quarter final of Superseries Premier level tournaments. “We are pleased to reach quarter final, this is the first time for us to be in Superseries Premier level tournament quarter final,” Ketut said after the match.
In the quarter final held tomorrow (3/6), they are awaited by Vivian Kah Mun Hoo/Khe Wei Woon from Malaysia who dismissed Indonesia’s women’s doubles after defeating Greysia Polii/Nitya Krishinda Maheswari with 21-17 and 21-19. They said they want to prepare well for the last eight.
“Better preparation, the pressure is greater. The Malaysians tend to play no lob, this should be anticipated,” said Anggia.
“We have to anticipate low returns, we have to find out how to attack them and, and no rushing,” said Ketut.
