When asked about her preparation and target at the prestigious 1 million US dollar tournament (13.5 billion IDR), Fitriani said she only had regular preparation and her target was playing in every match optimally.
"Nothing unusual, getting prepared only before the match. The target at BIO2017 is to undergo one match at a time, to play optimally and hopefully, I can give my best performance," she said to djarumbadminton.com.
Fitriani is one of the players who fought with red and white team at Sudirman Cup last week in Gold Coast, Australia. Although Indonesia had to have bitter results due to inability to qualify the elimination round, Fitriani performances in the last two matches in Group 1D against India's Pusarla V. Sindhu and Danish Mia Blichfeldt, were promising.
Even though losing from Sindhu 8-21 and 19-21, Fitriani at least managed to pose fierce resistance. While facing Mia, Fitriani could win and secure victory for Indonesia 3-1 over Denmark after leading 22-24, 21-15 and 21-14.
Her experience during her performance at Sudirman Cup is expected to gain her self-confidence.
"I hope my experience at Sudirman Cup can make me be more confident. Above all, I hope I can be better from now on," she said.
In the first match of BIO2017 first round, Fitriani will take on Hong Kong's Cheung Ngan Yi. Both players have met twice, and Fitriani never won.
"I have met twice and I always lost. Hopefully, I can enjoy the match, play well, and get better results," Fitriani said.
