BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier 2017 is within days distance. The world's top ten players are ready to compete for a total prize of USD 1,000,000 (one million dollars) or more than 13.5 billion IDR. The tournament that has been held since 1982 has made many champions either from outside or within the country (Indonesia). So, who are the most successful Indonesian badminton players at Indonesia Open tournament?

The Superseries host has a great when performing at Indonesia Open. There have been three Indonesian players that collected the most trophies at the tournament which turned into superseries premier in 2011. Then who are they?

1. Ardy Bernardus Wiranata (Men's Singles)

Ardy B. Wiranata listed his name as the first hat-trick winner at Indonesia Open. Ardy became the Indonesia Open champion for the first time in 1990. Facing his own compatriot, Eddy Kurniawan, Ardy won two straight games, 15-10 and 15-5. Ardy was able to repeat his success one year later. Back to the court to fight against his another fellow countrymen, Ardy was able to ensure his second title at Indonesia Open after stunning Joko Supriyanto with 15-7, 6-15 and 15-9.

In 1992, the Barcelona Olympic silver medalist managed to score a hat trick by defending his title. A year later in 1993, the title shifted to the hands of Alan Budikusuma. However, in 1994, Ardy took the title back, thanks to the 15-9 and 15-8 victory over Joko Supriyanto. He repeated his success in 1995. Ardy finally won his sixth title at Indonesia Open in 1997. In the final, he stunned Marleve Mainaky, with a score of 15-9 and 15-3.

2. Taufik Hidayat (Men's Singles)

Taufik Hidayat is the men's singles player after Ardy B. Wiranata who collected the most trophies in Indonesia Open. The 2004 Olympic gold medalist also collected a total of six trophies in this event. Taufik won his first trophy in 1999 and he was able to defend it in 2000. In 2001, the men's singles title had to be in the hands of Marleve Mainaky. At that time, Taufik had to surrender in the third round. He paid back his failure with three title streak. Taufik won the Indonesia Open in 2002, 2003 and 2004. The Bandung-born star fulfilled his sixth titles in 2006. At that time, Taufik took on Bao Cunlai (China) and managed to win with two straight games 21-18 and 21-17.

3. Trikus Harjanto (Mixed Doubles)

Tri Kusharjanto or familiarly known as Trikus is regarded as Indonesia’s most successful Indonesia's player in mixed doubles sector at Indonesia Open. This is because Trikus became the only player who is capable of winning six Indonesian Open titles in mixed doubles. The athlete who was born on January 18, 1974, won six titles with two different pairs; Minarti Timur and Emma Ermawati. Together with Minarti, Trikus is somewhat sensational. They made a history by winning the title for five consecutive years; 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, and 1999. So far. No one has achieved what he had achieved. Trikus won his sixth title in 2001, at that time he was not paired with Minarti. Trikus who was partnered with Emma was able to stun their compatriots, Nova Widianto / Vita Marissa with 7-5, 7-1, 2-7 and 7-1.

4. Susy Susanti (Women’s Singles)

Who has never heard Susy Susanti. The Indonesian badminton women’s singles diva has incised many records in gold ink internationally, and Indonesia Open is no exception. Susy also had a brilliant record; winning a total of 6 titles. Susy first won Indonesia Open title in 1989. A year after, in 1990, the title had to fall into the hands of Lee Young-suk (Korea). Susy took back the title in 1991 Indonesian Open, taking on Lee Heung-soon (Korea), Susy was superior in the final match and was crushing her opponent with 11-8 and 11-3. After winning the title in 1991, Susy had her two year title drought. She turned her failure into four titles in four consecutive years, 1994, 1995, 1996, and 1997 editions. What a remarkable achievement!
