JAKARTA - The board of Indonesia Badminton Association (PP PBSI) alters their policy. Indonesia Open is to become one of the targets for athletes.

Hence the Indonesian team unsatisfactory outcomes at the BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier (BIOSSP) 2016 is said to be the culprit of the policy change. None of the players have made it to final.

Whereas the association previously set three titles as the target for the players. The set target is from women's doubles pair, Greysia Polii/Nitya Krishinda Maheswari, men's doubles, (Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan), and mixed doubles, Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir. Unfortunately, the three pairs ironically ended in early rounds.

Furthermore, this becomes the third defeats in a row for Indonesian team at the BIOSSP. To make things worse, not even one Indonesian player that made it to the ultimate final round.

This situation makes Indonesia Badminton Association plan the tournament as one of the targets next year. Previously, SEA Games, Asian Games, and the Olympic, All England, the World Championship are the milestones.

"With this condition, the PBSI will put Indonesia Open as one of the objectives starting next year," said PBSI's Rexy Mainaky, the Head of Development and Achievement to the media.

The last Indonesian player who became the champion at the Indonesia Open was the men's doubles, Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan in 2013.
