Indonesia Send Five Vices To Quarter Final

JAKARTA – Indonesian women’s doubles victory presented by Anggia Shitta Awanda/Ni Ketut Mahadewi Istarani adds home team’s representatives to the quarter final of the BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier (BIOSSP) 2016. Indonesia has 5 representative in the last eight.

Previously, four representatives have secured tickets to the last eight, they are Alfian Eko Prasetya/Annisa Saufika (mixed doubles), Jonatan Christie and Ihsan Maulana Mustofa (men’s singles) and Rizki Amelia Pradipta/Tiara Rosalia Nuraidah (women’s doubles). Unfortunately, Sony Dwi Kuncoro playing in the last match of the day was stunned by Hong Kong’s Hu Yun in a three set match, 12-21, 21-15, 16-21.

Anggia/Ketut won a ticket to the quarter final after overcoming a seventh seeded pair, Jung Kyung Eun/Shin Seung Chan, in a tight match, 21-19, 19-21, 21-19. As seen on the final score, the match played by the two women’s doubles pairs was fierce. The both pairs managed to minimize blunders and played very carefully especially at critical points.

Five match point chances were unable to be converted to victory by Anggia/Ketut. Leading 20-15, they were nearly left behind when Jung/Shin tried to catch up, 19-20. One Anggia’s return failed to be anticipated by Shin delivered a win for Anggia/Ketut. Anggia described, they were too impatient to win the match and it made them do own mistakes.

“We are very pleased we can go to quarter final at super series premier level tournament. We could actually overcome Korean players and world top players, we were just lacking confidence,” said Ketut.

“They are not any better from us in terms of skill. In this match, we applied attacking strategy,” Anggia added.

In a match for a semifinal place, Anggia/Ketut will face Vivian Kah Mun Hoo/Woon Khe Wei, Malaysian pair who has crushed Indonesian pairs twice, Della Destiara Haris/Rosyita Eka Putri Sari dan Greysia Polii/Nitya Krishinda Maheswari.

All matches in quarter final of the BIOSSP 2016 will be held on Friday, (3/6).
