Gideon / Kevin attending a Press Conference at Sultan Hotel this afternoon, Sunday (11/6) acknowledged that the competition level in this year's BIO was quite equal.
"The preparation for this tournament is quite good. I see a 50-50 chance for men's doubles this time. Everyone here has won and lost in their previous encounters. One thing for sure, they who are ready will win," Kevin stated.
To Gideon, the BIO 2017 is a tournament he is eagerly expecting and he claimed to be ready to compete.
"Our preparation is good enough since we are excitingly expecting this tourney. Hopefully we can do our best," Gideon said.
Kevin / Gideon is one of the Indonesian pairs that the PBSI has expected to become a champion at BIO 2017. However, they both claimed they did not feel burdened with the target. "Instead, we are honored to become PBSI's mainstay, we do not think too much of it, we will give the best," Gideon explained.
In the first round of BIO 2017, Gideon / Kevin's journey will start with taking on Danish pair, Kim ASTRUP / Anders Skaarup RASMUSSEN. Having met twice, Marcus / Kevin won both.
If they are qualified for the second round, Gideon / Kevin has the opportunity to meet Chinese representatives, Liu Cheng / Zhang Nan. Marcus / Kevin is still leading 1-0 victory over the Chinese pair. However, the Chinese pair is not an average opponent, and they are opponents that Marcus / Kevin should be wary of.
A pretty heavy hurdle will start challenging Gideon / Kevin if they qualify for the quarter-final. They both are likely to meet the Japan's sixth-seeded, Takeshi Kamura / Keigo Sonoda. The both sides have all square encounter record, 2-2, and the last victory was achieved by Marcus / Kevin at the Malaysia Open 2017.
