JAKARTA – The Senayan Stadium (Istora Senayan) in Jakarta has its own stories for many world badminton player appearing yearly at Indonesia Open, like at the BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier 2016 this

year.

Especially for world’s #1 young women’s doubles pair from Japan, Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi, who reach the ultimate round of the prestigious tournament Previously, they always lost in early rounds and their best achievement was semifinal.

This time, the 2016 All England gold medalist managed to reach their first final at Indonesia Open. They both succeeded in reaching the ultimate round of BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier 2016 after overcoming Netherland’s pair, Eefje Muskens/Selena Piek, this afternoon. Without having too much difficulty, they stunned the Dutch pair with two set straight, 21-10 and 21-18.

“We are happy to reach semifinal, because previously we always failed and never made it to final. In this match, we were not troubled and it was quite easy to overcome our opponent, perhaps they were exhausted since in quarter final they fought an Indonesian pair. We feel that we are benefited by it,” Misaki said after the match.

The pair has been superior since early 2016. This is because having been participating four Superseries level tournaments, they won three titles and became the runner up, in India, England, and Malaysia. While they became runner up in Singapore.

Playing in final tomorrow, Sunday, (5/6), the Japanese pair will take on the emerging winner of a match played by Tang Yuanting/Yu Yang (China) and Vivian Kah Mun Hoo/Khe Wei Woon (Malaysia) who are about to play in the fourth round.

“Tomorrow, we are ready to face anyone. Hopefully we can perform optimally and win,” Ayaka added.
