JAKARTA - Who doesn't know Icuk Sugiarto. He was a badminton player who gave a gold medal to Indonesia at 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi, India together with Christian Hadinata in men's doubles. His two sons are now following his path to achieve similar success.

Born in a badminton legend family has made Tommy Sugiarto and Jauza Fadhila Sugiarto close to shuttlecock. This year, they performed at the BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier (BIOSSP) 2016 representing Indonesia.

Unfortunately they journeys had to end in the middle. Tommy was halted in the first round after stunned by Hongkong's Wei Nan 16-21, 14-21, on Tuesday (1/6) while Jauza playing in two categories experienced the same results.

In singles category, Jauza was halted by Japan's #5 seed Nozomi Okuhara 15-21, 8-21 while in women's doubles, Jauza partnered with Apriani Rahayu failed to go to quarter final after defeated by Japan #1 seed pair, Misako Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi with 12-21, 14-21.

Looking at the outcome, Tommy commented on his brother. "I am happy he follows his dad's footsteps (Icuk Sugiarto). This is a good regeneration, not every player can do what our family has done," Tommy said.

When asked which category is the strongest to be played by Jauza, he replied democratically. "It's all up to her, singles or doubles. Whatever that is, she must play without pressure and keep on fighting for best results," Tommy proudly hoped.
